It was recently announced that Dr. Joel Gotvald, a board-certified vascular surgeon in Austin, Texas, was voted as a Texas Monthly Super Doctor and Austin Monthly Top Vein Doctor for 2022 -2023. This top doctors honor is published annually in the Texas Monthly magazine. This Super Doctors honor is only bestowed amount a few select doctors in the state annually after a careful selection process.  There are only a few vein doctors in the state of Texas that were recognized.

Dr. Gotvald has been with Austin Vascular Surgeons for over a decade.  He has served the local community as a vein doctor by providing emergency room care for local hospitals and serving as a vascular and vein consultant for the local hospitals in Austin, Round Rock, and Cedar Park.  He has provided Trauma Surgery service to the local community for many years as well, providing emergent repair for traumatic vascular injuries.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic he has taken care of many patients in the Intensive Care Unit with Covid-19, including those that have developed severe and life-threatening blood clots.  His expertise has a vein doctor has been an invaluable asset for the medical community of Central Texas.

Dr. Gotvald has also been recognized as a top doctor in his field of Vascular Surgery by US News and World Report, Healthgrades, Austin Monthly magazine, and Castle Connolly Medical.  He is board-certied in his field of Vascular Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.  Vascular Surgery is the field in medicine that involves treating diseases of the circulation.  Dr. Gotvald medically and surgically manages diseases of the arteries, veins, and lymphatics throughout the body.  This field of medicine is also referred to as Cardiovascular Medicine.
