Dr. Joel Gotvald, MD, FACS, FSVS
Dr. Joel Gotvald is a board-certified vascular surgeon who practices vascular surgery in central Texas. Austin Vascular Surgeons provides diagnostic imaging, medical therapies, and interventional treatments for circulatory diseases of the arteries, veins, and lymphatics throughout the body. Dr. Gotvald provides minimally-invasive endovascular treatments including stents, stent-grafts, angioplasty, lasers, radiofrequency therapy, vascular glue, coiling, and other catheter-based interventions. He also offers traditional vascular surgery when indicated, including bypass grafts, endarterectomy, and open aneurysm repair. Dr. Gotvald has hospital privileges at the Ascension Seton, Baylor Scott & White, and St. David’s facilities in Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, and Lakeway, TX. He also has privileges at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center and the Hospital at Westlake Medical Center. He has privileges at multiple surgery centers throughout central Texas.

Dr. Joel Gotvald has active board-certification in Vascular Surgery through the American Board of Surgery. He is double board-certified as a vascular surgeon and a general surgeon. He is also diplomate of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine (ABVLM) in the field of Phlebology. Dr. Gotvald is a distinguished Fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery (FSVS) and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Dr. Gotvald completed both a residency and fellowship in Vascular Surgery at the leading medical centers in Houston Texas and Dallas Texas. He has been performing surgery for over 20 years.
Vascular Surgeon Austin Texas
Dr. Joel Gotvald completed all of his surgical training at the University Hospitals in Houston and Dallas, as well as Brackenridge Hospital in Austin (now converted to Dell Seton Medical Center). His vascular surgery and endovascular surgery fellowships were completed at Baylor University Medical Center and the the Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital in Dallas. Due to his exposure to Brackenridge Hospital and the outstanding medical community in Austin, he decided to open a Vascular Treatment Center in Austin after completing his residency and fellowship training programs. Over the years he has served the cities of Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, and West Lake Hills, having provided vascular surgery and endovascular surgery services to the hospitals in all of these cities. He has provided emergency room vascular surgery coverage throughout his entire career. For a portion of his career he was also a surgeon at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Gotvald continues to provide hospital vascular consultations in the cities of Austin, Round Rock, and Cedar Park, Texas. He is passionate about serving people who have diseases of the arteries and veins. He has dedicated his entire adult life to the management of poor circulation that results from cardiovascular diseases.
