Varicose Vein Centers
One of the most common forms of vein diseases that affet the body are varicose veins. Varicose veins are a genetic disorder that leads to the development of dysfunctional bulging and twisted veins beneath the skin surface. They most often occur in the legs and groins. At our Varicose Vein Centers we will evaluate your varicose veins with vein ultrasound / vein duplex in order to assess the vein disease. The vein ultrasound will help determine the aberrant vein anatomy that is causing your condition. Our vein specialists will then come up with a treatment plan based on your anatomy. We perform the most state-of-the art varicose vein procedures. Our goal is to remove your varicose veins and cure your condition. Some common therapies performed at our Varicose Vein Centers involve the use of radiofrequency thermal ablation techniques, laser therapy, ultrasound-guided therapies, intravenous medication administration into the diseased veins, as well as traditional surgical procedures such as phlebectomy.
Spider Vein Centers
Spider veins are the most common type of unsightly vein that is treated worldwide. They are more common on the legs and typically occur within the skin itself. About one-half of the population ovef the age of 50 have spider veins. Genetics plays a strong role in the development of these veins. They are more common in females and they get worse as one ages. Spider veins are the smallest of the abnormal veins that develop on the body, being about the size of a thread. They tend to form in clusters and most commonly on the legs, ankles, and feet. Our Spider Vein Centers specialize in removal therapies to rid the body of spider veins. Several treatment sessions may be required. Our vein specialist will administer therapy to your skin over a 20 to 30 minute session while in the comfort of our office. Sclerotherapy is the most common procedure offered for spider veins of the legs.
Leg Vein Centers
Although diseased veins can occur almost anywhere on the body, the legs are by far the most common location. Vascular surgeons are considered the medical and surgical experts in the management of vein diseases involving the legs. At our Leg Vein Centers we manage leg vein blood clots (deep venous thrombosis and superficial thrombophlebitis), varicose veins, reticular veins, spider veins, May-Thurner Syndrome, Venous Malformations, venous aneurysms, venous reflux / venous insufficiency, and traumatic venous injuries. Our vein specialists are board-certified and residency and fellowship trained as vascular surgeons.
Cosmetic Vein Centers
Our Cosmetic Vein Centers focuses on improving and restoring the appearnce of your skin. Unsightly skin veins, known as spider veins and reticular veins, are the most common types of veins that we treat cosmetically. Although varicose veins can also be treated for cosmetic reasons, they are more commonly treated due to medical necessity. The most common types of cosmetic therapies performed for unsightly skin veins and subdermal veins in laser and sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy invovles the injection of liquid medication into the diseased veins. The medication causes the veins to collapse and fade away. Sclerotherapy is most commonly performed on the legs, ankles, and feet. Laser therapy is most commonly performed on the face and nose. At our Cosmetic Vein Centers we perform all of these therapies in additon to other procedures such as plastic surgery to remove veins as well as Ohmic thermolysis.
Other Types of Vein Centers
As mentioned, the legs are the most common location to developed diseased veins that can be unsightly or lead to complications such as pain, swelling, dermatitis, ulcers, or blood clots. But diseased veins can occur in almost any area of the body. Common examples of disease veins located in areas other than the legs include varicocoeles (varicose veins adjacent to the testicles), hemorrhoids (varicose veins of the anus), and pelvic varicose veins (varicose veins around the uterus and ovaries). Our Vein Centers may recommend referral to another type of center for management of conditions such as hemorrhoids (colorectal surgeon) or varicocoele (urologist). But over 95% of vein conditions can be treated through our Vein Centers.
